7x20x21 at BEA 2011

We’ve got the lineup for this year’s BEA presentation of 7x20x21. Co-hosted, as always, by me and Ryan Chapman, this year the event will take place Tuesday, May 24th, at 3:30 at the Midtown Insight stage.

This year’s presentations:

  • Colson Whitehead, author of Sag Harbor, talking about the LitMode 100, a state of the art, fully adjustable, lightweight writing module
  • Rita Meade, aka Twitter’s ScrewyDecimal, on the future of libraries
  • Misha Glouberman, experimental artist and creator of the Misha Glouberman School of Learning, discussing unconferences
  • Rachel Rosenfelt founder and editor-in-chief of The New Inquiry, on the current reviewing landscape for women
  • Ben Greenman, author of What He’s Poised to Do, and editor at The New Yorker, on chart artists
  • Aaron Shapiro, CEO of HUGE, on his upcoming book Users Not Customers
  • Kevin Smokler, VP of Marketing for Byliner, what the renaissance in narrative journalism can teach book publishers

In case you’re new to the format, 7x20x21 is a lecture series designed to keep things interesting. Speakers present for 7 minutes, accompanied by 20 slides. The slides advance forward every 21 seconds, moving the talk along quickly and forcing the speakers to edit their remarks to the most essential points.

Hope to see you there!
